The Flaming Lips and Mac DeMarco to Release Collaborative EP

Wayne Coyne, of The Flaming Lips, made an intriguing announcement today via Instagram, as he shared with his followers that the Flaming Lips and Mac DeMarco will be releasing a split EP together. The collaboration will include DeMarco covering three Flaming Lips songs while the Flaming Lips will cover three of Mac DeMarco’s tracks. The announcement comes accompanied by a video clip of Coyne playing DeMarco’s “Chamber of Reflections”. Watch it below.

The two groups will be embarking on a tour next month, though there are unfortunately no Canadian stops scheduled along the way.

Wolf Parade Share Second Single, “You’re Dreaming”, In Anticipation of Upcoming Reunion Album

Wolf Parade are set to return from their six-year hiatus on October 6th when they release Cry Cry Cry, the band’s first album since 2010’s Expo 86. Previewing this long-awaited LP, the group have shared a second single, a propulsive number titled “You’re Dreaming”. It follows lead single “Valley Boy” and can be listened to below.

Wolf Parade are set for a lengthy tour starting in Montreal next month and culminating with a stop in Sweden. You’ll be able to catch them at the Phoenix Theatre in Toronto on October 13th.

Matthew Dear Enlists the Talents of Tegan and Sara for New Song “Bad Ones”

Producer and DJ Matthew Dear has returned with a new single titled “Bad Ones”, and it’s a catchy synth-fueled tune that features the vocals of sister-duo Tegan and Sara. Give it a listen below.

Dear has teamed with the sisters on a couple of occasions in the past, including a 2013 cover of Tears for Fears as well as a remix of “I Was a Fool”, off 2013’s Heartthrob.

The Rural Alberta Advantage Announce New Album, The Wild, Share New Track “Brother”

A new album from the Rural Alberta Advantage has been rumoured for some time, and we now have confirmation that a follow-up to 2014’s Mended with Gold, is indeed on its way. The LP will bear the title of The Wild, and is to be released on October 13th via Paper Bag Records.

The Rural Alberta Advantage have also released a single and video in support of the album, a broody track titled “Brother”. You can watch the Anne Douris-directed video below.

The band will also be touring with fellow Canucks Yukon Blonde in the near, which wraps itself up with a show at the Danforth Music Hall on December 6th.
